The Italian grape has travelled well to the badlands of Mendoza; a warm, savoury and pleasingly complex wine from the Lurton's. Being the grape that dominates Chianti, perfect with pasta and chatcuterie and any red meat.

Domaine Massamier, Coteaux de Peyriac, Minervios, 2003. £16.75
A generous and beautifully approachable wine, the lifted and expressive black fruit notes from the Syrah being perfectly complemeted by the flavours and textures of garrigue and wild thyme from the Greenache.
